What about the compiler version and options?

Sadly, the compile time on a modern system seems to be (almost) the same.

I admit the platforms list is neither accurate nor up to date, but
AMD64 \in x86.

libtool used to run ldconfig when installing a (shared) library, so I
wonder how do you get into this state.
